Time Away: Scottish Holiday Cottage

We’ve just returned from a week away in Scotland so I wanted to share some pics of the adorable house we stayed in for the first few days (the last few days we spent in a soggy tent in the highlands, so no pics of that chaotic interior). We headed up last week for Jamie’s cousin’s… Read More Time Away: Scottish Holiday Cottage

Coffee Table Upcycle with Washi Tape Detail

I purchased our coffee table second hand, mostly because it has storage inside, and a shelf. More places for more crap amirite? When I got it, it looked like this – kinda meh…boring, ugly dark stain. It was chipped and the hardware was broken. With the bleugh brown colour it felt like it was sucking… Read More Coffee Table Upcycle with Washi Tape Detail

Getting the Wood Burning Stove Installed

One of the major things we knew we wanted to get done to the house after we moved in was to get a wood burning stove (or log burner as we call them in NZ) installed in our front room. We actually had a mate who had DIY’d one in his home, and we had… Read More Getting the Wood Burning Stove Installed

Warm Metallic Candle Holders

Brace yourselves my friends, for this is a post about candle holders. Get ready for a wild ride. It’s the depths of Autumn, so lighting candles in the evening helps to ramp up the cosiness. We went the whole hog about a year ago and got a wood burning stove installed so it’s already pretty cosy… Read More Warm Metallic Candle Holders

Time Away: Scottish Holiday Cottage

Oh hi. I’ve been in bed with the flu all week and I feel like I’m missing out on precious Christmas fun as well as knowing my run up to Christmas is now going to be super stressful and annoying having missed a week of work. I haven’t posted on my grid for like 2 months also lol. Things are getting away on me a bit at the moment. So here’s an old autumny picture just for some colour including a partial shot of the Edwardian mantle mirror that I painted pink 😬🤷‍♀️ and my beautiful fruit bowl I bought in Morocco 🖤Happy December y’all. #diningroom #bluewalls #1930shouse #moroccanceramics
Aaaand we once again have hooks in the porch. However I’ve decided they’re too pretty to hang coats on 🤷‍♀️ #porchmakeover #brasshooks #wallpaper #blackandwhitewallpaper #1930shouse #stainedglass #leadlightwindow
I couldn’t decide whether to leave the wall to the right white, or paint it green. So I painted it blue. Bit much? Yes probably! 🤪 #greenbedroom #bluebedroom #twotone #bedroomdecor #1930shouse
I’ve been sprucing up the porch! It’s been a grim and neglected space ever since we moved in and now it’s looking pretty sweet and fresh. Just putting together a row of hooks for the opposite wall and will be pretty much done. Swipe for the lush Art Deco-ish hooks I’m using and a picture of how the porch looked before (I can’t find a pic of the same angle right now!). I’ve been wanting to sort the porch out for ages but couldn’t work out how to make it pretty so I must credit @caradiseblog for the inspo from her recent fabulous porch makeover which helped me decide to use wallpaper! Thanks Cara! #porchmakeover #entranceporch #porchdecor #1930shouse #leadlight #stainedglass #periodhome
🚨Bank Holiday Klaxon🚨 Don’t think I’ll be getting much done inside this weekend with the weather as it is 🔥 but you never know, I might squeeze in painting the other wall in the bedroom to match this one 🤷‍♀️ #masterbedroom #periodhome #greenwalls #1930shomerenovation #slowrenovation #plantsmakepeoplehappy #eclecticdecor
This girl is always my little #diy buddy. Wherever I’m working in the house she’s there watching every brush stroke, every turn of the screwdriver and every frustrated sweary rant. Here she is helping me put together the old desk I bought on the weekend. This is in our office (third bedroom) which I don’t think I’ve ever shown on Instagram. It will be my desk for artsing and craftsing once I get it set up and get a proper lamp to work by. #homereno #homeoffice #1930shomerenovation #blackcatsofinstagram #diybuddy #periodhome #antiquefurniture
